I would suggest giving a 2 months trial membership during which the candidate can examine the benefits of IV. After the trail period, charge a nominal $5 monthly fee. I think that should be very reasonable, and nobody would lose their sleep over parting with $5. That would easily raise about $100K per month (~20K members*$5).
However we should continue to encourage members to commit to monthly contributions if they choose to voluntarily. Also as someone suggested, different access privelages may be assigned.

There is a rumor going around now. One of my colleagues here claims that he got a call from his attorney that there is going to be a new bulletin for july, released either tomorrow or on Monday. Can someone talk to their attorney and confirm this?
I'm unable to reach my attorney now.
Man, this is becoming unbearable now. Although it seems to be the right thing given the news that USCIS has returned some visa numbers to DOS, I think they won't do it for the fear of looking like fools and humiliation of their mistakes publicly

Can we send another application just in case? Has anyone talked to their lawyer. As per USCIS, even if they send the application back, it might take 30 days to receive the application. (Understandable, since it is USCIS).

From Greg's yesterday's latest response that there were very few which were returned/rejected on July 2nd itself and this thread proves that we are not alone ...there are so many and status is unknown. Matthew Oh is also suggesting that it will be receipted. I think we are all safe and with time we will get receipt. Nobody...none of the attorney's are suggesting refiling. Now the thought that whether my packet was properly filed or not? I think that will always be there in the back of one's mind but if the attorney has done his/her job correctly I think we should not worry. Its not rocket science and documents required for filing are well known...so I would discount this risk. It appears we are all safe because as we all know that no rejection notices have been generated, packets if returned should have come back by now as per Greg....All in all it all points towards our packets being on hold there at respective centers....but as you rightly pointed out..towards the last week of July keep calling centers to know..but even before that keep eye on check clearing as that by far is the best and earliest clue that all is well with the case.

Why don't we all put an end to finger pointing and concentrate on what we need. If someone is doing wrong or has followed wrong ways, govt may/may not take care of them, it is upto the govt, why do we always blame fellow citizens or immigrants?
We all know, people immigrate doing manipulation, being illegal, over stay visas, jump fences, modify resumes, etc...... at some stage everyone of us would do some level of manipulation so why finger pointing?
Making our lives better and fixing retro is the goal why drag in consulting companies.
Speak for yourself Mister! I have never done anything illiegal, I haven't faked my resume, I haven't jumped fences or over stayed my visa ... just because you have done something wrong, why incriminate the rest of us ?

However, as far as access to some information and benefits goes, this can be restricted to members. If you think this issue impacts you as severely as it does, why the hesitation to ensure something gets done about it, and get regular access to information and benefits without the clutter?

I guess you are talking about premium membership like wsj etc. I am not sure a free exchange of ideas can occur if we put our membership for sale by restricting access to some parts of the website. IV will lose some of its sheen and I am not sure the tradeoff in membership $ is worth it- dunno just doesn't feel right in the gut

I have an MS degree, so IF the SKIL is passed, my PD will become current. However, I guess the earliest time for SKIL to be passed is Oct, if it is ever passed.

Maybe $640, $6,400, or even $64,000?
If Uncle Sam charged a fee to submit now rather than waiting for another year or two or three... What would you have paid to submit I485 and get EAD AP AC21?
Alternatively, how much are you going to benefit from EAD AP or AC21?
AC21 -- maybe ability to move jobs and get a few thousand $ pay rise?
AC21 -- maybe not going to the back of the queue -- really worth thousands!
EAD for you and spouse -- maybe a week of salary for someone that could not previously work?
AP -- how much is it worth not to have to waste time and money renewing H1B at an embassy. That's at least a few days of time you don't have to waste (and time is money).
How much will you save from filing under the old fee structure? At least a few hundreds.
Now use that as a guideline for what you are going to contribute to IV.
