Can you explain how did u get it notarized?
I need to know:
1. Where I can go to get it notarized?
2. Where on this form do I sign?
3. Do we need two witnesses as the form asks for two Names / Addresses?
4. What else I might be asked for when getting it notarized?

Ok, i had the same problem.
Surname: blank
Given Name: First Last.
But in all US documents had it correctly distinguished. Recently when i renewed my passport i got it fixed at NY. You DO NOT NEED a news paper ad for this kind of change. I went to NY Indian consulate personally to ask this question as no one was lifting the phone. The person over there gave me a special form to fill it out and get it notarized. I did all of that and they printed the name correctly. Another guy had same problem, he did not even filled out that form, but they corrected his name as well. I was surprised how lenient these guys are.
Me and the other guy were joking on the way back in train because they did it for him without the special application, its like they don't care what name you have, " do you want Tom Cruise, i will write Tom Cruise - no problem at all, or even better, we will give you passports with empty name column, you fill it up with whatever you want :) "
Don't worry guys, this change is easy and this does not impact 485 as well, as long as you have always reported your correct name in your other USCIS documents. THEY KNOW that internationals have their names goofed up in their passports. Its not new for them.

I have a nine month old and I can understand your feelings. I hired a nanny through sulekha but did a lot of reference checking and tried her when my parents were around here in US and they monitored her carefully and then gave us the green signal to keep her before they left.
So not all nannies are like that. There are good nannies too. I pay a lot of money a lot more compared to what thunderbolt quoted ONLY because we found her to be nice and caring. She gets calls from her earlier employers who say their kids want to speak with nanny and say hello.
It is just your bad luck. Nannycams are very useful and plan to get one for myself just for my satisfaction even though we are happy with our nanny.
Like someone suggested - daycare would be a good option and I even thought about it but a 8 month old kid may catch alleriges easily and thats why I backed off too.
Now about legal recourse - the best thing is to get out of any kind of mess. You were aware that you must not hire a nanny illegally and now you pay the price. No problem. Just say good bye to her and be careful next time

what difference would it have made, if he just kept this to himself rather than disclosing it? how is getting this information out a great service to the people whose priority dates are current?
i was stressing out day after day waiting to see the magic email, strangely enough this piece of info has brought a closure and suddenly i am finding myself getting back to my normal routine.
I dont think getting this info out is a great service(i never said that) rather just mentioned to acknowledge effort/time someone put in to getting this info.
Whether u believe it or not is upto you, personally i have hopes that folks will keep seeing approvals.

Looks like this campaign is loosing the steam..... My $500 have been waiting for two days now..... We started with 33% capital and not even at 50% ...this forum cannnot even run for 17%..... forget the next 50% we need to cover by 31st December.... Looks like I saved some money.

I decided to move to india now. I have I140 cleared and having a permanent job. But enough is enough!
I started looking openings at india 2 weeks ago and most probably will get a offer from a US financial giant having IT shop at bangalore.
I think this is right decision at this time.

I am a new member; just joined 59secs ago. I read some of the posts and know that there are some Singaporeans in this thread who have applied for the H1B1 visa under the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. Questions:
1. How long does the process of applying for the USSFTA H1-B1 take?
2. Where is the best place to apply for the USSFTA H1-B1 visa?

Actually funds that are raised for an event should happen much before any such event because we need to lay the ground work for the event in DC . I dont know when our next event would be. IV core can comment on that after watching the legislative events in DC in next few months .
What i was conveying was, to donate to the pool of resources and be ready when the bills start moving in the congress . IV would need to hit the road again at that time to continue the momentum from the lobby event and have our provisions included in the base bill. Regarding the dollar number, i dont know how much would be needed.
On the day of the events you can get involved by actually hosting some members in your homes if u live in DC area . actually i hosted 3 guys from MI thsi time . that way it makes easier for the members on their pockets as they would have spent on air tickets etc.. there are many ways to be actively invloved in IV for our cause. you can motivate your collegues and friends do teh same for our cause. Rest assured that IV will use the money sensibly as i have seen in this event.

I am no expert but here is what I think.
by concentrating energy on spilled over milk, why not work towards recapturing unused visa numbers? It has been done in past successfully. It is in huge numbers, guess around 300-400K or so.
while wasting energy on 2-3K or may be 5K lc sub cases will do no good for everyone. visa recapture will solve problems for most of the community.

LC Sub is long gone. Those who *legally* got pre-2001 may already have gc by now, and its not going to affect them anyway.

If it were for some of the antiimmigrant folks, my friend you (sugaur) wouldn't be here a day longer. you would be "out" in a wink from this country. so dont consider yourself too supportive of anti-immigration. Even citizens are favoring resolving the ilegal immigration crisis by granting some legality to those who are here ilegally. Dont support ilegal immigration but atleast dont bash those who show support to resolving this crisis. you and me are mere temporary visitors here. please remember that your country is not this. you are here seeking prosperity and so are they. this country has a way of dealing with them and us and neither has been satisfactory so far. I looked at the links you have provided and I'm still not sure where your "50,000 EB2 India Labors...." came from. These numbers do not seem trustworthy or reliable.
Here's data directly from the DOL ETA website.....
3/28/2005 to 10/28/2005 there were a total of 15973 Labor certifications approved - that includes EB1, 2, 3, 4 for all countries, and 3734 cases for Indian nationals in EB1, 2, 3, 4. Of course a part of EB1 and all of EB5 don't need labor certs.
If you download the database from the DOL website, apply filters for India, approved cases, then filter out all Level I in all non-managerial occupations, followed by non EB2 job descriptions - you end up with ~ 8 - 9% approvals for EB2-IN which is approx 1300 - 1400 primary applicants.
In my estimates, i removed most computer programmer level occupations as the USCIS has been very reluctant to approve EB2 for these cases - i could be wrong here.
As you see, it is IMPOSSIBLE for EB2 IN cases between 3/28/2005 to 10/28/2005 to be much more than 3800 (that is approx 3800 x 2 visas incl dep).
A total of nearly 50000 EB2 IN applicants (including dep) for 2004 and 2005 may be possible.
The massive retrogressions we are seeing is mainly because of the fact that only 15439 EB2 visas were issued in 2003, and 32532 i 2004 thanks to DOL backlogs and mis-interpretations of the law by DOS !!!! compare that with an average of 43,000 in most other years since the 1990s.

I have filed for H1B under the Masters quota but i will be graduating only in May and gave an official document from my University that i would be graduating. Somebody i know had also done a similar thing but he got a h1B rejection mail from USCIS yesterday. This has made me really upset. Is anyone there who has filed with a similar document and has received H1B? He had filed it witha consultant while mine is a highly reputed company. Will that make a difference?

It is good idea. And ofcourse better than visa number, EB1/EB2/EB3 and all other crap. Countries like UK, Canada, etc. have similar kind of immigration policies.
